Subject: back to tango ,bye bye economy

Dear friends from Tango list

Let`s get back to tango, since if we stay talking about countries`economies
, it will be
and endless/fruitless conversation.

Talking about young people in Argentina and their increasing interest in
Tango, I am
not so sure that the teenagers are seeking Tango for income reasons only.

Yesterday night , a remisero (a hired taxi cab driver, cheaper than a taxi
cab, $ 0.70
per kilometer) was taking me back home. We begun a conversation, and he
commented
his son and daughter ( 12 and 11 years old) were dancing tango for the last
two years.

I asked him, if they were looking for a job , but he says " no, they just
went to the Club,
and decide to take Tango instead of karate or skating, the other options
available".

It seems the boy and the girl are doing quite well, they won the second
prize at a contest
of Tango dancing , "Torneos Juveniles Bonaerenses" , a kind of youth
tournament hosted by
the Government of the Province of Buenos Aires.

One interesting point, is that the two teenagers mnade their parents to take
them to centers
of elder people , because they wanted to see and to dance tango as the
"veterans" used to
dance.

So in some way, there is a contact between the "golden generation of the
40`s milongueros"
and this "XXI century milongueros" . It certainly will be good to keep Tango
kicking and alive.

Warm regards
