dear friends,

in the spirit of *getting the record straight* we might as well have the
CORRECT information, huh? :-)

and since facundo is very proud of his family's influence in tango, and
cares a lot that the correct information about his ancestors be known, i
offer this clarification:

carlos posadas, was neither the father nor a *distant relative* of facundo
posadas.

carlos posadas was facundo's GRANDfather.

we interviewed him earlier this year ----please refer to: *la voz del
tango,* pg. 6, march/april 2001, which reads in part:

quote

FP: I would like for people to be informed beyond what they study. What I
say is from passed down from family... my grandparents arrived in Argentina
before 1840... I dont want to hurt anybody...in my 60 years... I dont say
things just to sound good... but I think I am a person of logic life has
taught me to be logical. My grandparents had influence in the tango... in the
family there have been 45 recordings of tango... all those were by my
grandfather..
MB: Wow! What was his name?
FP: Carlos Posadas.
MB: Oh, yeah!... I know the name! ... Didnt he have something to do with the
orchestra of Teatro Avenida?
(As a matter of fact, in our section The Great Tango Orchestras, we have
an article about that La Voz del Tango, May/June 2000, pps.4-8, Juan
DArienzo, King of the Beat)
FP: Yeah! Hes was the one who brought DArienzo to tango... DArienzo used to
play jazz...he was 16 years old and he used to play jazz with a violin... he
wasnt very good...but he was attracted by the music of Carlos Posadas... so
he went to his studio...Carlos Posadas played the piano and guitar... and
DArienzo fell in love with the tango ..

many people approached them personally and congratulated them for the great
articles! they were gracious and thanked *la voz * in return.

if you subscribe, you too, will get the straight scoop directly from the
pros, the history of tango, the orchestras, dancing tips from the pros, and
much more! :-) enjoy! be happy!

[oh, gee!... excuse the commercial... ;-) but ..couldn't resist :-)
thanks loads for your indulgence! ]

un abrazo tanguero to all of you!

maritza
