I recently bought a new pair of dance shoes. Instead of
regular dance shoes (I thought there was only one type), I
bought Jazz shoes. I don't know why they are called Jazz
shoes but that's the name on the box.

They are incredible different from regular dance shoes.
Those shoes are much lighter, one reason because they have a
soft heel. It seems I had been kicking some women with
displacements and didn't even know it. I didn't even feel
the contact. (The heel was making contact with their shin
because I wasn't fully wrapping around.) Of course, they
told my teacher instead of telling me.

My pivots are easier and I feel I'm dancing on air. (I guess
I don't need United to get to Denver next week for the
festival.) And the cost? One third the cost of regular dance
shoes. So I bought two pairs.

If you can not dance in regular shoes, no shoes will ever help you :)
To a bad dancer shoes are in the way ;)

( Sorry, Michael, without any relation to your particluar shoes :) )

Igor:
I never wrote I couldn't dance in regular shoes nor , regular dance shoes. I wrote I could dance better because I could feel the floor =
better.

Igor

Michael, it has no any relation to you whatsoever,
You just have touched the topic..

Igor: Why don't you admit that you did not read clearly Michael's posting? I thought he
was quite informative and reasonable but you seem to have a fixation against those that
blame their tools for the poor dancers they are. Michael shared with the rest of us his
personal lesson: do not go by the label, the best shoes are those that make you feel good
in them.

Igor, if you want get what irks you out of your system do so but do not use Michael's
posting as a vantage point. Even if you do clearly state that it is not directed at
Michael, your prickly attitude shines through and is a waste of time. I am sure Michael
did not appreciate it. Get some fresh air!

Sorry, sorry, sorry, guys,
Great information!

I am definitely going to look at these shows, thank you!
I have found something here https://www.dance4less.com/jazz_shoes.htm
30 bucks only!

Igor
PS. Looking at them I doubt that I will use them though. During my dancing I
heavily use the edge of the sole and the heel to hold large forces during
many of my moves. I have to try them first, they look useful! May be I
should try sneakers instead? Hmm.. but sneakers can not be used with salon
style. Oh, Giordano Swing Jazz by Leo's - $52. White top black bottom.
Looking almost like regular shoes, but cheaper!

My shoes are made by Bloch. Their web page is www.blochworld.com. They have pictures of shoes but what's more important, they have a retail =
locator. Put in your zip code and the internet will find the closest store. From the pictures, it looks like the manufacturer calls the style =
I bought "Elasta Bootie- Mens." However, the retail outlet I bought the shoes calls them "S0405L BLK 10.5 Jazzsoft." Oh well, as Gertrude =
Stein wrote "A rose is a rose is a rose." And as Shakespeare wrote, "What's in a name? That which we call rose by any other name would smell =
as sweet." Translated into English, jazz shoes are jazz shoes whatever you call them.I,

I suggest you try on a pair before purchasing. I never recommend buying shoes over the internet. The pictures show you what they look like, not =
how they feel. And for people like myself who have flat feet and wear orthodics (inserts to give the foot support), you have to allow for more =
space than just the foot.

Hope this helps.

Last two private lessons was dancing in very small spaces for Denver Tango Festival
If I do well, I "graduate" and become ready for BA. If I don't do well, somebody owes me a
refund on dance lessons.

I have noticed that one jazzsneaker is very popular with some of the
Argentine dacners here: Sansha, model Dynamo, the one with the star shaped
red stripes on black ground. I have not tried them yet, but they look great,
and maybe a little less bulky than the Blochs. (doing adornos with a thick
rough rubber sole around the edge of your foot is a bitch. Try crossing
behind, you'll now what I mean)
