I've been dancing for about 10 years, but I still
enjoy dancing with most absolute beginning leaders.
Why? They are usually much more considerate and
attentive to their partners than many intermediate
leaders who think they are advanced. (To me, a big
difference between intermediate & advanced leaders is
how well they can affect the woman's body, not how
many steps they know.)

What do I get out of it? The opportunity to work on
my balance, listening skills, musicality, grounding,
ability to send suggestions to my partner, etc.
Harder to do while intermediates are learning steps.
The more unstable a leader is, the more challenged I
am to work on my most important following skills. So
I work a little bit harder with beginners than with
advanced leaders (who are usually easy to follow
anyway or can compensate for my mistakes).

To dance at a milonga with a beginning leader and see
his face just light up after a dance has its own
rewards. (A nice ego-boost for me, I admit.) It's an
interesting challenge to try and put HIM in a trance.

See folks at ANN ARBOR'S FIRE & ICE FESTIVAL this
weekend!!!
