I am having a great time here in BsAs, of course! I have been choosing
on some nights to stay away from the more popular milongas, and find I have a
much better time. Sunday at Porteno y Bailarin was perfect. Great
dancers, a mix of young and old, and room to dance. I rarely have a bad night at
Porteno, in no small part because of the wonderful hosts and the welcome of Jose
Garofalo. Salon Canning has been terrible - packed and unwelcoming. I went to an
alternative milonga Saturday, and was surprised to see women leading women. At a
small neighborhood milonga we were the only non-portenos. I danced some rock and
roll with a portena. She was delighted that I asked her, and really enjoyed it.
(By the way, I am a woman, but I lead because I teach)

I am surprised to hear that there are no classes for jazz or rock and roll
dancing here. Is that true, or some exaggeration of the portenos?

Hi Lois,

When I was in BA in January, I noticed that there were Lindy Hop classes
offered at El Beso.

PS: One of my fantasies is to live down there for a couple of years and
teach Swing.
