Janis,

Thank you so much for sharing your detailed and insightful commentary
on the championships. A wonderful account. I almost felt like I'd been
there.

A question about the dance parameters: The prohibition of ganchos
reminded me of a question I've had regarding the difference between a gancho
and a leg wrap. For example, if I am walking in cross foot, and as my
follower steps back with her right foot, I step right forward to secada her
left leg. If I step in deep and turn upper body CCW, I can invite what I
call a leg-wrap with her left leg wrapping quickly around my right leg.
Would this be a prohibited move in the competition?
And then, if, when I step right fwd secada, I fully transfer my weight
and add a little CCW hip movement, I create a contrabody momentum that puts
significant snap into her leg wrap. Does it now become a gancho?

Thanks again, Janis, for your so-readable description of the
championships.

Hola the List!
Tonight at a Milonga in Atlanta, Georgia I saw a man leading ganchos to
candombe.
I feel obligated to report this incident to the List.
Is Atlanta catching up to New York City!
