Subject: A good time in Denver

Tom Stermitz and the rest of the gang in the Denver/Boulder Area really know
how to throw a great tango party. The dancing on Sunday afternoon and
evening last weekend was unbelievable - I'm still enjoying the high of an
endless series of memorable dances. Having a packed floor at the outdoor
milonga in the Cheesman Park Pavilion was really surprising, I had no idea
the energy would be so high there - Robert Hauk's fantastic DJing was
certainly a big factor. I had no idea that I would still be dancing until
4am that night at the Mercury Café despite a headache and lingering allergy
problems. I thought I'd be half asleep in the DJ stand feeling real bad and
struggling to keep alert, but the collective energy of the hard-core folks
who kept dancing until the end just carried us all away.

It was especially enjoyable for me to share DJ duties with Tom and Robert,
who played some tremendous music. It's so relaxing to have inspiring DANCE
music to dance to - it lets everyone quit worrying about the music and just
dance. It's great to share ideas behind the DJ stand and to dance our
brains out to each others' music.

It's also very heartwarming to watch Susana Miller dance off and on all
night long until the very end, enjoying herself immensely after putting all
her energy into teaching workshops during the afternoon. It was a fine
sight to see Tom dancing in an exhausted stupor with a big smile on his face
in the wee hours Monday morning, getting his deserved payback for his
organizational efforts after telling me multiple times that he was just
about to throw in the towel.

Finally, it is a real pleasure to share the floor with a bunch of
accommodating, enjoyable people from all over the country and the world who
are there just to dance and share the experience with each other. I can
hardly wait for Labor Day, which promises to be a party of epic proportions.
My sincere thanks to everyone in Colorado who has a hand in organizing these
events.
