About year ago I have gleaned Milonga Sentimental somewhere on the web. It
has since become my favorite rendition of this milonga. I have no idea who
performs it. It is modern arrangement, male and female duet accompanied by
orchestra, very danceable. I have impression this duo has many more
interesting songs and would like to get CD. Who are these guys?

Thanks, Oleh K.

I believe you are looking for the male/female duet with mostly guitar
arrangement by "Patio de Tango."

Hola everyone,
I am looking for the lyrics to Milonga Sentimental (en espanol)...
also looking for good versions of this beautiful old slow milonga....I
have Canaro's and Gardel's and I've heard an unusual arrangement with
mulitple flutes...
there is another arrangement (without a big violin section) I heard in
BsAs which is my favorite, but alas, don't know the orchestra. Would
appreciate any info...
gracias,
Ilene

Hi Ilene,

The lyrics in Spanish are in https://www.todotango.com/

And in English in
https://argentina.informatik.uni-muenchen.de/tangos/msg04704.html

As for a version, an excellent one is that of Mercedes Simone in "La Dama
del Tango". (btw - She doesn't singing slow at all!)

Best

Lloica

Anyone collecting unusual or exotic versions of this tune should seek out the CD "Rakkauden kiertokulku" (AXRCD1198), released in 2000. It's a =
long sea voyage from the River Plate to the Baltic and Milonga Sentimental has been considerably shaken up in transit, ending up as =
"Surutyö" (bereavement), with Liisa Ryömä's Finnish words sung by Anneli Saaristo. With its dramatic tempo changes and blazing with Nordic =
passion, it's an exciting listening experience.

Anneli Saaristo recorded a gentler version of this song in 1995. It is on the CD "Lauluja rakastamisen vaikeudesta" which I think means "songs =
concerning the difficulties of loving". The record also includes "Viimeinen känni", in which Troilo's "La ultima curda" gets the Anneli =
treatment.

Adolfo Carabelli Orq. does an interesting version. Violin is prominent in a
couple of the verses, but it isn't the heavy, lush violin accompaniment you
hear in some of the classic tangos.

Dear Ilene,

There is also a very nice sounding recently-recorded traditional
arrangement by the Brazilian tango band De Puro Guapos. When they
recorded it in 2000 they were a quartet, comprising bandoneons and
guitars by the sound of it, but they are now a sextet and you can find
their current details at :

https://www.depuroguapos.com.br

I picked up the Milonga Sentimental mp3 off their old pre-sextet
website, where it was freely available. On this basis there shouldn't
be any issue with me giving a copy to you. If you're interested contact
me privately and we'll organise something.

Regards,
Geoff
