Subject: Milongas by Di Sarli - any recommendations?

Hello,

so far I found the music of Carlos Di Sarli for the most part a bit on the
"dry side" for me (with the exception of "Bahia Blanca" of course). Recently
I heard some lovely milongas by Di Sarli, the slower pace made them sound
very relaxed.

Unfortunately I didn't take any notes on names of musical pieces and CDs, so
now I am trying to get some recommendations on pieces and/or CDs.

Thanks for infos on the matter,

Bernhard

The Argentinian Cultural Society in Quebec had nice compilation of Di Sarli
Milongas and Valses. It is called Anthologies, Carlos Di Sarli, Milongas et
Valses 1928 -1958. I don't know if it is still available. Their address is 5390
Boulevard St. Laurent, Montreal (Quebec) H2T ISI, Canada. (514- 495-8645) The
compilation has 15 Milongas and 15 Valses. The audio quality for some of them
is not so great, but the same is true for most Di Sarli commercial recordings.

All the best,
Manuk

I find the following Di Sarli milongas to be excellent:

Rosa Morena -- Sus Primeros Exitos, Vol 3. (Tango Argentino BMG-RCA)
Zorzal -- Sus Primeros Exitos, Vol 3. (Tango Argentino BMG-RCA)
La Mulateada -- Sus Primeros Exitos, Vol 3. (Tango Argentino BMG-RCA)
Pena Mulata -- Sus Primeros Exitos, Vol 1. (Tango Argentino BMG-RCA)

These four milongas are listed among the classics of tango dance music
