Fabian according to his own website:

>Tireless researcher and maestro,
>remarkable dancer and connoisseur of the
>secrets of tango -- Fabian Salas has
>brought light to old beliefs and opened
>new ways in the conception of the dance,
>creating an unmistakable style of dancing
>the Tango.

Gustavo according to his own website:

>Dancer and internationally ranking choreographer, he is also the
>pioneer of a new technique of teaching the tango, now famous worldwide.

After

>more than twenty years of experience and touring all over the world , he

imparts

>his knowledge with conceptual clarity and a rich technique. Being an

exceptional

>analyst and investigator, his abilities have revolutionized tango dancing

towards

>the end of the 20th century. Those who best know the world of tango

dancing

>also appreciate his knowledge of tango dancing history and styles which

he

>knows how to materialize through the creativity of his improvisations.

The critics

So Fabian has opened new ways in the conception of the dance, creating an
unmistakable style of dancing, but it shouldn't be called nuevo. Gustavo
revolutionized tango dancing toward the end
of the 20th century and now there are three stylistic tendencies,
Urquiza-style, Almagro-style and Naveira-style. So there appears to be
agreement, it's not called nuevo-style of tango. Maybe it's Naveira-style
tango. ;-)

In 1999, Claude Dumont suggested combining the names of its famous
contributors/exponents -- Fabian, Gustavo and Chicho -- to call it Faguchi
tango.

According to Chicho's page at CosmoTango, however,

>Chicho's classes are a must for those approaching just the Nuevo Tango

style...
https://www.cosmotango.com/Chicho.htm

and the listing of styles for CITA 2005:

>Estilo Cosmotango (Nuevo Tango),
>Estilo Salon (traditional),
>Estilo Milonguero (Close Embrace),
>Estilo Todaro (por Antonio Todaro)

https://www.cosmotango.com/

So maybe nuevo is the name of a style afterall.

With best wishes for the weekend,
Steve (de Tejas)
