"The Danza Y Movimento CD of Candombes and Rhumbas is
obvious. For my taste,
I'm not moved to want to dance to those Lomuto rumbas.

But they are
interesting to listen to.

What prompted me to ask the question was a particular
rumba, "En Un Bosque
De La China" by Jose Garcia y Sus Zorros Grises. It's
more tango
tango/candombe than rumba rmnba."

That's a terrific song! And the lyrics are absolutely
charming! Quite humorous, really. And romantic.

Have you heard Florindo Sassone's 2-CD album of
International tangos/rumbas? Pretty amazing!

Also, there were several Argentine orchestras that
used to perform in Europe, as I'm sure you're aware.
The one that comes to mind off the top of my head,
because I like his orchestra so much, is Bachicha. If
you're interested in hearing more about these, please
write to me privately, but I'd have to dig around a
bit. My collection of these comes from copying them
from a friend's 78's.
