Thanks!

Yes, it's called buy original CDs and then rip them to your computer for YOUR use. You can buy CDs from Tangostore.com (and many other places) for as little as US$6.80 per CD. If you look for cheaper, or free music, you are cheating the artists and/or their families out of money.

It's not unlike you creating something to sell and then after selling a few copies you find that your creation was being given away for free.

I have a collection of over 400 tango CDs. I've spent many hours and much money putting the collection together. I'm constantly asked to copy this or copy that. The answer is always the same: I'd be happy to tell you where to buy it.

If you like tango (or any other music) support those who spend their time and efforts to legitimately supply it.

A big ditto to John Tice's comments.

With one addition . . .

Further, your actions will eventually stop the tango labels
from creating new releases, causing them to go out of
business.

Why should they seek out old recordings, spend enormous
efforts to clean up those old recordings, create the
artwork for the covers, do the research on the artists
in order to create the liner notes, and invest a large sum
of money (and to be sure, it is not a trivial sum)
on the first printing,
and then find that after a few are sold that the market
has dried up,
because someone is giving away MP3s of that carefully
crafted CD ?

Just to be the devils advocate again.... Check out www.itunes.com . It
is only $0.99 per song or $9.99 per album. A search for Astor Piazzolla
returns 62 songs. I am sure you can find many more.

I whole heartedly support John Tice's position.

However, there are legitimate locations where MP3 and music in other formats can be downloaded, for free or for a price. I have downloaded quite a few from the old www.mp3.com site. Someone mentioned itunes.com in another post. I have also downloaded from many artists' sites legitimately.

I have bought many CDs because I've enjoyed the sample musics of an artist. I've even bought a CD after having downloaded the entire CD in high quality MP3 files legitimately. I want to support these artists for the selfish reason that I want more choices in tango music.

BTW, a site I had found recently is "www.farolatino.com".

Good legitimate tango music to all.

Search from anywhere on the Web and block those annoying pop-ups.
