Subject: Extra followers (or leads...?)

For a good part of the evening last Monday here in Portland, I looked a around & saw extra leaders lined up on the edge of the dance floor. I've seen this happen in contra dancing too, one week, a 6 to 12 extra followers will be sitting out & then the next week, there will be extra guys. Seems to go in cycles...
