The promoters of the festival RENTED the dance studio. I haven't heard
anybody say that the dance studio has a responsibility to secure Their
speakers.

The festival promoters had a quick lesson and milonga on the Staten
Island Ferry. Based on what I've read on this list, if the ferry sunk,
the promoters would be held responsible because they didn't inspect the
ferry prior to departure, never mind the Coast Guard (or some other
agency) has to inspect it. If the ferry rammed another boat, the
promoters would be responsible because they didn't check the
qualifications of the captain and hire their own crew. If there was an
accident on the subway (you just knew I would work it in somehow) while
transporting participants to Central Park, they would be held
responsible.

Enough already!! It was a freak accident that upset everybody.

P.S. I guess the only thing worse than falling speakers is hailing
taxicabs.
