This was an interesting quote:

really stuck in the basics. As important as basics
are, there is a lot more in this world then basics.
Just ask any great dancer. S/he got great by
thoroughly learning the basics. Then going beyond the
basics not by getting stuck doing nothing but basics."

How does one get beyond the basics. I know when I did
my most growth in Two Step a more mature dancer worked
with me, individually, several times a week. Isnt that
the best/only way to get better than basics, help from
someone better, plus lots and lots of practice time?

I don't know if/think it can be done if either of
those are missing.

As for Astrid's comment, while the sole reason for
dancing should be to "meet a man" is there any harm in
finding one who enjoys dancing as much as the woman
does. Surely there is no harm in finding someone in
that setting! 7;-D
