This must mean I'm a good dancer! I suppose however I could improve by doing nothing but walking and doing back ochos!! You suppose !?

Or better yet, I could forget the back ochos and only walk. Then I would be a really great dancer. Actually, I've been walking all my life. So I've been a really great dancer all this time and I had no idea.

Thanks for the complement!!

In all seriousness. Figures (fancy or not) must have been invented for some good purpose. They didn't come about on their own.

I've been dancing recently (last few months, I guess) with women who
really enjoy just walking. If only I'd known that a couple of years
ago!

Of course, it's not the fact that you're just walking, it's *how* you
walk. If I'd just walked, a couple of years ago, it would have felt
awful, just as everything else I did probably did. (Well, not awful,
I hope, but not as nice as when I do things now.)

Three things came to my mind:

1, All things are created for a reason, but it is the matter of whether it
is a good or lousy reason.

2. "Bigger is not neccessary better"...Gawdy clothes may not be as good as
simple and plain outfits.... Dishes with all the spices thrown in may not be
epicurian achievements....

3. Andrew wrote earlier suggesting the development of style (more
elaborated figures in your case) has to do with availability of space at the
dance floor.

I agree with Bruce: it is about how one walks.

Even if there are plenty of floor space, I would still be happy to trade
dancing with a person who understands musicality and execute simple
movements, than a person who poorly executed non-musical fancy steps. For
the latter, I can go to a gym to throw myself around in an aerobics
excercise, and, if the fancy movements are really terribly executed, I could
result in the same bodily injury from careless aerobic excercises.

If you walks well to music, yes, may I compliment you that you are a good
dancer. :-)

BB and list,

I have said this to many beginning leaders who apologize to me for their lack of tango steps. I don't know if they believe me, but it can't be said too much. Thank you for saying it again!
