Subject: more safety tips when visiting Buenos Aires

People wrote me privately with some good tips:

Take your money out of your wallet before entering a milonga.
Tie your purse to your chair. Take only what you really need.
Don't sit at a table near the door; people walking out can take your bag
while you're dancing.
Use a hired Remise at the airport and do not accept a ride from anyone who
offers their taxi to the city.
Use radio taxis in the city; lock your doors upon entering. Some taxis
always have their doors locked.
Use taxis at the door of the milongas rather than catching one on the
street.
Be especially careful when leaving Nino Bien; ladies should not leave there
alone. Ask someone you know to leave with you. I asked to friends to walk
me home (two blocks) last Thursday night.
Go to the ATM machines during the day, preferably before 3pm when the bank
is still open and there are lots of people around. Then go back to your
hotel to leave the credit card and cash there.

This is not intended to deter anyone from coming to Buenos Aires. It's
better to be prepared so you won't have a bad experience. I know several
people who have had money or credit cards stolen, or worse yet, have been
physically hurt.
