Subject: Yellow fever wrap up

A summary of all the articles I read this week is:

The fathers of the Argentine Nation had in mind as a model for their country
Europe.

They imagined a nation populated by Europeans inserted in South America. To
this end they favored immigration preferably from Western Europe and of
Catholic religion. Spaniards, Portuguese, French, Italian, Austrian and
Germans from the south. People also arrived from many other countries such
as Poland, Russia, the Baltic Republics, Syria, Lebanon and many jews.

All along immigrants also came from other South American countries.

Lately they have come from Russia, Ukraine, China, Korea, Eastern Europe and
Pakistan as well.

Blacks vanished largely because they were absorbed by inter-marriage with
the migratory wave.

It is possible that they may have been few from the beginning, that they
served in the armies and fought in many wars, that they were affected by
disease and epidemic.

It seems that genetic studies done in the neighborhoods were they were
numerous prove that about 10 % of people carry some black genes. This would
demonstrate that they were assimilated by inter-marriage. Argentinean
populations are deeply rooted in the place of birth, they do not move their
dwellings as much as people do in the USA.

Places were epidemics start were quarantined to limit the extension or
propagation of the disease to the rest of the population, so if an area of
the city was cordoned by the police or not (IMO) this is totally irrelevant.

Records already showed that most of the victims of the epidemic were
Europeans and about 3000 Argentines.

Best regards, Sergio.
