Subject: About Tango as a social dance

Dear Friends from Tango List
This is part of an interview published today on newspaper Clarin , to the winners of tango salon championship in Buenos Aires. Don Oscar Carteri and his wife Coca ,from Lanus, Province of Buenos Aires.
They obtained the first mention at the metropolitan championship also this year in Buenos Aires.
Their story is one that started many years ago, when they used to dance at Bomberos Voluntarios of Lanus and Circulo Leales y Pampeanos at Avellaneda. They retire from the milongas for 30 years , to raise their siblings , until the same siblings push them to go back to the milongas and enjoy their dancing.
In this second reentree , Osvaldo and Coca met a younger couple that take them to new milongas such as La Viruta and Gricel.
Well, this the vision of two human beings, common people with the gift of dance and the resolution to climb a stage to show how they dance.
Warm regards
Alberto Gesualdi

Osvaldo ?how do you remember milongas of old times when you started to dance?

Nothing to do with the actual milongas. If in a dancing floor there were 200 couples, 180 danced like god and godesses. There was an unique respect from one dancer to another; today there is an impressive envy and if you dance good you are looked over the shoulder. Put this in my comment .
Another thing: When a dancer from Avellaneda, Parque Patricios, Barracas or Pompeya went to other milonga, if he was good , he receive congratulations ; "well done , boy", they told him. At the dancing floor they do not hit you, but if anyone touches you it ask you to be forgived; actually they even get angry .

Coca: The advante we have is that people loves us a lot.

Osvaldo: For instance, one month ago, more or less, I came out from the milonga and could not find my car parked. I get into the milonga running and said to my wife "Negra, our car has been stolen". It appears a woman that we know from the milongas ,embrace me and said, : "do not worry , in a month and a half I will go throuout the milongas and will raise the money to buy you another car."

?And this happened?

No. It was not stolen . I got confused about the place where it was parked.

Osvaldo, ?do you remember when you started dancing?

Absolutely , no . I have elder brother and they took me to the practicas between men; usually, I have to play the woman role. ? If I came to the city ? Sometimes ; to Salsn Garay, confiterma Sans Souci, to the Marabz; my God, there you have to know how to dancer. I never loss the style from those years.

?What do you think about the actual style using longer and extensive steps?

Osvaldo: We don t like it; tango, you have to walk it naturally. The same step you use when you go to buy bread or corissants to the bakery. ?Have you seen me at the dancing floor and how do I walk?

?Your favorite orchestras?

Osvaldo: D' Arienzo from '39 al '41, Canaro (this are my favorites), also Pedro Laurenz, Di Sarli, Miguel Cals. Write down this : now it is danced a lot of Piazzolla y Pugliese, which is a music taking out four tangos from Pugliese with their ups and downs .
On the other hand ,a Di Sarli, a Cals, you can not miss a beating because everybody notice it inmediately.
