Subject: My advise to "El virre"
El Virrey says:
"So I was laying in the hotel room, working myself into
a bad mood. Alejandra spends a good part of her time
trying to keep me entertained so this doesn't happen,
but she was having a tough time at Iguazu."
Dear "Virre" you do not know how much we like to have you among us. We have
great joy when you are in one of those "up" days and we worry a lot when you
are on your "down" ones.
I remember when you were in your apartment, playing ping-ball with your
computer, so depressed and complainig about cigarette smoke.
We were happy to see you started traveling a little bit.
The problem is that you have these ups and downs, that is really bad; not
for us because we can adjust to it but we worry about you and your
relationship with Alejandra. It looks that you did not get to see the Iguazu
Falls, you only noticed the helicopters. You know how women are: the time
you take alejandra to see the Grand Canyon, she is going to be upset about
the helicopters and the little plains there. Women always get even with you.
She is "Porten`a y bailarina" like the name of a famous tango. She cannot
live too far (in time and space from her city). You "virre" belong to the
desert of Arizona or New Mexico, the Saguaro cacti and the Gila monsters, the
big event of the day for you is getting in your car and driving on one of
those highways to (no-where) to finally land at the local shopping mall to
rent a movie to see at home.
Alejandra can stand that for a while but you have to understand she needs
more than that, a little city life. You are learning to be a milonguero,
you are doing fine there but now you have to learn how to be "Macho". This
means that you sacrifice yourself for the benefit of your girl, you make
sure that she is happy, man. You suffer silently, you show a smile to her
because you want her mind to be of worries.
You learn to like her country or her city. ...It looks to me that she is
too much woman for you, man. There is a reversal of roles here, she is
taking care of you, this is not right. It is absolutely wrong!
IMO you are planting the seeds of the destruction of your love relationship.
Too bad! man for she is a fine woman. Tipping can help at the hotel or the
milonga but when it comes to other things what it counts is love, man. Even
if in your distorted mind seems otherwise. You cannot buy love, you have to
earn it.
I hope that you understand. You have to learn how to be Macho, "Virre", then
you are going to be happy everyday through a vicarious feeling when you see
her loving eyes. No More ups and downs and less and less alcohol.
Good luck Virre.

This was all good advice and insight to El Virrey.
But it sounds like he is on the path of becoming a true Milonguero by
letting the woman take care of him.
Also, I suspect Alejandra would be willing to put up with alot more in
exchange for a GREEN CARD.
