Subject: Aliases in Tango-L
We recognize people by their distinctive characteristics. Their face, body
shape, the way they talk,
the way they sing, the way they dance, the way they *write* and many other
elements that are characteristic of that person and set them aside from all
the other individuals.
Any artistic expression is very personal. We recognize the music a person
writes, the music a person plays, his drawings or paintings, his
architectural creations, the way a person directs his movies, etc, etc,...
and also the way a certain writer writes.
We differentiate Di Sarli from Pugliese and them from D'Agostino very
easily. Angel Vargas from Carlos Gardel, El Cachafaz from Carlos Copes,
etc, etc,... and Borges from Victor Hugo for instance.
So we all have a certain characteristic that is an expression of our
personality and sets us apart from the rest of humanity.
This list in some way is like going to the Cafe, at the corner and meet a
group of friends on a daily basis.
It is very easy to recognize anyone by his writing style.
Summary: To write under an alias and believe that we are deceiving anyone
is a show of naivete, for
we are recognized after writing a couple of paragraphs the
same way as we can identify Carlos Gardel or Luciano Pavaroti after
listening to a few words sung by them.

Here is what happened to me once.
During a conversation with one respectable tango person,
at the end of it, I received an incredibly rude letter pretending to be from
that person,
the person said that he/she did not write it - somebody else intruded.
It seems to me that cc: was made accidentally to another address ( not me )
in the middle of conversation,
so somebody else could read the topic, and have the e-mail addresses of
parties, and interfere.
I do not think that a mature person or a person in sound mind could write
that letter.
Somebody was trying to compromise tango relations, to compromise respectable
people.
So, it happens.
And the best remedy for that I think is to keep emotions down.
