Regarding TimmyTango?s post under [Tango-L] alturnitive Vals about Edith Piaf?s ?La Foule?, I can?t say that I agree this is a waltz or vals. Firstly, the tempo is too fast, for even a Viennese waltz. Secondly, the tempo strongly suggests it is in compound duple time. That is to say, the music flows in groups of two beats, each of which are subdivided into three sub-beats. In more technical musical terminology, the tempo suggests a time signature of 6/8. I listened to the song on YouTube and enjoyed it, thanks Timmmy.
