Subject: Anita Taniche works at Planettango.com??? Or is she...

Dear List,

From all of you, already taxed by off topic letters, flame wars, I do ask
some little more patience and understanding. It took me some pondering
whether to write this or not, but I chose to be completely honest with you
and write down everything I think and know. Since I am not all knowing, I
might as well be completely wrong here. Read through my mail and judge for
yourself.

Today, I was threatened to be humiliated by using my e-mail address (forged)
to show me that I am puny. The reason is that I was so bold to uncover
something and ask the person not to do this, because it is unethical.

The 'lady' who blackmailed me was "Anita Taniche". Or more probably someone
else using this e-mail as a cover.

I am the member of this list for quite a few years now. I always found it
disturbing that there are people who seem not to understand any kind of
netiquette when posting. First I thought it is normal for such a big list to
have some members who are like this. But still, some letters were simply
like a bad joke. I never understood how could anyone with enough knowledge
to handle a computer write such things.

If there is no tangible, direct proof (the error message from the mailbox of
A. Taniche) and the threat afterwards I'd never write this letter.

So: Recently, I've found out something very disturbing, which may even shed
some light on the aggressive posts the list is receiving...

After writing a letter to the address of Anita Taniche to her address I
recieved mailing delivery failure, with the following text:

-----------
Reporting-MTA: dns; imf06aec.mail.bellsouth.net
Arrival-Date: Sat, 16 Apr 2005 19:55:56 -0400
Received-From-MTA: dns; ibm25aec.bellsouth.net (195.228.240.94)

Original-Recipient: RFC822;<ataniche@BELLSOUTH.NET>
Final-Recipient: RFC822; <ataniche@BELLSOUTH.NET>
Action: failed
Status: 5.2.0
Remote-MTA: dns; mailhost.planet-tango.com (216.219.254.203)
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 554 5.1.2 unresolvable address
X-Actual-Recipient: RFC822; <info@planet-tango.com>
-------------

This apparently shows that the address "ataniche@bellsouth.net" is a fake,
it is simply redirected to info@planet-tango.com . For some reason the
redirection address was badly configured, so it did not arrive, but it was
returned to me instead.

After this, I wrote a letter in which I told this fact to the person
controlling "ataniche@bellsouth.net" and asked her (him) to desist.

For which I recieved this threat:

I do not know the owner (Alberto Paz, I presume). Also, being a Hungarian I
do not have any reason to incite distrust in the US community or have any
interest in harming their reputations. The mere fact, that these 'people'
tend to disagree with me does not make me angry. The fact that the letters
are truly rude do me make me angry at times, but I try to be understanding
with people who have problems with controlling their emotions. I am a
passionate man, I had that problem when I was young.

However, if someone is abusing the list it is a worthwile subject -
especially that all these people seem to concentrate on one thing: to create
a negative attitude on this list. Considering that Mr.Paz is the creator and
moderator of the Argentine Tango Open Forum (at yahoogroups.com) this
appears to me as a possible motive. (see post by Alberto Paz to ATOF at the
end of the letter - timed just after the Maselli flamewars)

The whole event made me recall the last disturbing event on tango-L.

When we had an argument last time with Hector Maselli, I recieved an aswer
by HM to a letter which accused him (according to HM it was sent in my name
- which I didn't) of being someone else as he is.

At almost the same time I was informed by a list member that HM might NOT be
who he claims to be, this source named the owner of planet-tango.com as the
probable impersonator and asked me not to publicize this information as it
is only a suspicion based several years of previous mailings (style, themes,
use of language etc.). Since then this information was repeated several
times by other members.

So I checked, if the SMTP (e-mail sending protocol) IP addresses of HM and
AT are similar or not (the e-mail headers contain a lot of info that cannot
be seen normally from your mailer). I found that they are from the same IP
pool at Bellsouth, which isn't proving anything, but at least suspicious.
Anita, Hector share the same language style and writing style (also: Anita's
letters don't seem like a woman's writing). If I add that these people seem
to reinforce each other's opinions when posting... They also seem to write
using very similar (aggressive) tone in private.

If I suspected anyone wrongfully I do apologize the most humble way - but I
think this problem should be cleared up for their sake. In this maze of
electronic systems it is very hard to tell even for a police investigation
who did what.

I've found one method which may work though. But it requires the cooperation
of these people (if they truly exist): if they write a small bio, name the
community where they are dancing regularly and some other people on the list
who know them personally. I hope they won't find this ignominious.

Since I am too far away and I have better things to do, the only thing I am
interested in is to protect my honor. Of course if I am treated unfairly I
might withdraw from the list. However, if I am right, then this is the goal:
to make tango-L unsuitable for tango lovers.

Regards to you all,

Aron
