Well, isn't this going to be deliciously off topic!!! If you must know,
Mr. Ward, apple butter is a delightful colonial comestible made, not
surprisingly, from apples and is rather like a jam, although without the
stickiness from the pectin or the sweetness from all that added sugar.
Apple butter has a rich brown color, is used much like any other jam or
condiment, and is particularly yummy on a grilled cheese sandwich. While I
wasn't aware of an Apple Butter Festival, Missouri would seem a likely
place for such an event. If one could look forward to some tango to boot
that could make for a lovely excursion. Festivals involving apples almost
always include fresh baked apple pies as well which are also worth
traveling for. Perhaps Karen should consider planning a little tango
shindig to go along with that Apple Butter Festival. One never knows who
might show up. :)
