Many of you probably know about the Argentine Tango Open Forum, a Yahoo group:
The group description on the home page is:
The Argentine Tango Open Forum is an international mailing list.
The list is uncensored and members may freely post messages
on any subjects related to Argentine Tango, including its preservation,
promotion, awareness and announcements of any Tango activities
around the world.
Well, it may come as a surprise to some of you that this list is
indeed censored:
Hello,
Your message to the argentine-tango group was not approved.
The owner of the group controls the content posted to it and has the
right to approve or reject messages accordingly.
In this case, your message was automatically rejected because the
moderator didn't approve it within 14 days. We do this to provide a
high quality of service for our users.

Although I find no reason for your posting to have been censored, as
moderator of another Yahoo dance related group:
favor of moderating the postings - particularly lately. The Viagra
and "male enhancement" and girls "wanting to have fun" postings find
their way on to the bulletin board, and if no one stops the messages
before sending them out some really offensive stuff would go out to
everyone.
Also, out of curiosity I checked to see how many tango related yahoo
groups there are - over 500 (all Argentine tango) . These same
unscrupulous advertisers that I manage to delete have found their way
onto many of those groups, and it appears that the more successful
they were at getting their garbage posted to the group, the smaller
the group was.

If the moderator agrees with your posting, your message will be posted and if not, you'll eventually be thrown off. One of the moderators has an ego so large I can't believe he can fit through a doorway. Somebody posted a message about a tango event but left off the city. I asked where is the city. The next thing I know, the moderator is attacking me over some perceived slight. I was eventually dropped from the membership and when I renewed, it wasn't acted on by ten days and automatically dropped from the pending list.
Yet, the moderator holds himself superior to Tango L. There seems to be sycophants on ATOF which only feeds the colossal ego. People claim he's a master teacher. HOWEVER, I've NEVER seen listed as a teacher at a major festival e.g. New York, Boston, Portland, etc.

I think his post to ATOF was distributed already (I think I received it).
Please give it a rest.

The reason I am here is because of that moderator. I know I get a little
extreme with my thoughts but wow, that gentleman thought everyone was in the
presence of god and it was HE.
I wish him and his family well, but wow. I needed a break from that.
