smling's experience in Bs As:

Somehow it may be the setup of the place: being dark and with the tables all
squished together, with two seperate dance floors which makes ppl weaving
back and forth etc., that make it a perfect setting for such crime.

I too have my digital camera stolen that way there, late at night when there
were not even a lot of people left.

One Friday afternoon at Confiteria Ideal I saw with my eyes on an attempted
theft of an item from under the table; they work as a team-- one person to
watch me and to send signal to the other to take action.

The moral of my story is that the coat check in most milongas for a peso
worths every bit of it. (The only milonga I have been to without coat check
is La Catheral). At Porteno y Bailarin, the coat check is even free of
charge, which made me feel like a total idiot after the incident. I also
learned to bring a bag with a lock.

But enough is said about milonga crime, as I seemed to attract other types
of incidents as well (welcome to Bs As!) But still I enjoyed Portena y
Bailarin, especially right after El Beso on the same night.
