Subject: Buenos Aires Accoustic Guide
Dear friends from Tango list
A new free service for visitors was presented yesterday at the Town Hall of Buenos Aires, an accoustic guide that can be accessed free by cellular phones .
With local cell phones, dialing *8283 (*TBUE) and entering area code ( 011 for Buenos Aires) , now is available the first circuit ,Plaza de Mayo, that includes original voices of historical characters such as Peron and his wife Eva, mothers of Plaza de Mayo , and other testimonies. The service is provided with spanish, english & portuguese option.
There will be 11 aditional tours with this system ,covering key points of the city such as el Abasto de Carlos Gardel (and Luca Prodan, a rock singer), the historic area of the city Puerto Madero and Recoleta cemetery .
El Abasto will be the next available accoustic tour, and Tourist authorities think it will be ready by november 2004.
"Each one of the circuits takes an enormous work of preproduction. And since we use original audio material for sounds and voices, we need to remasterize and make an aceptable audio level for a reception by cell phone" said a tourist authorirty.
In case the visitor bears a cellular phone from his origin country, a similar service will be provided by dialing local number 4 126 3545.
For those cell phones with media faciities, there will be available also images and hystorical photos, for some of the points included in the accoustic tour.
As everything new in Buenos Aires ..... be patient , maybe you have some trouble the first time.
warm regards
