Now that is going too far. Maybe some of the later Pugliese might
encourage too many theatrics for a crowded dance floor, but what is a
milonga without the emotional intensity of Pugliese? I cannot imagine a
milonga without hearing the great Pugliese classics like La Yumba, La
Tupungatina, Pasional or Rembranzas.

As for the instructors who teach what appear to be frozen step patterns at
workshops and festivals, maybe it is time that dancers took responsibility
for thawing out the material themselves. That process might be helped by
bringing in a few instructors who emphasize thawing out those patterns by
teaching basic improvisational skills.

I am also not sure that seeming complexity creates chaos on the dance
floor. It is the thoughtless pursuit of complexity without regard to
other dancers that is the problem.

With best regards,
