When I said the beginning of the nineteenth century I meant the 20th.
century, I apologize.
I said in Ballroom Argentine tango III "At the same time some local ballroom
instructors see the need to teach it as
well. Some learn from observation, some take a few lessons from visiting
instructors. Not very many could afford to go to Argentina to learn. "
I hope that we understand that I am referring to local dance instructors
that had existed at the court for hundred of years. The instructors that
opposed fiercely Viennese Waltz at the beginning of the nineteenth century
because these easy dances to learn displaced the most difficult ones from
the European ballrooms.
Ballroom as a word comes from Latin 'Ballare' , 'Ball" like having a ball,
so do the related words ballet, ballerina, bailar, baile, etc.
Around 1812 - 1850 was the V. Waltz time to replace the Quadrille, the
contradanza, the rond dance, etc.
Around 1910 was when the tango arrived in Europe and North America, Before
WWI.
I apologize.
I got a message from Enricco with a paragraph relative to tango yesterday. I
suspected that it was a virus so I did not open the attachment and deleted
it but my McAfee virus scanner was disabled and now I have trouble with my
computer which works very slowly.
Be careful!
