Subject: Definition of Pause

>My take on this (it's all a personal experience), and what I think Jay
is describing......there are many places where a pause is called for by
the music. But you don't just stop dead and wait, that "lets the energy
die". You build to a pause with a little more plie (Merriam Webster says
"a bending of the knees outward by a ballet dancer with the back held
straight"), and a slower than normal<
Maria del Carmen Silingo composed a vocabulary set for tango dance teaching
methodology and didactic:
Pause: Espera (wait), tiempo musical (beat, time, measure, etc.)
I think this definition runs amok with the one quoted from ballet dance.
