Subject: 4th of July Fireworks
Hi all,
Last night I attended the opening milonga of the Tango
Fireworks Week here in Southern California. I was really
impressed, and hoping that more local people will try to
come to the nightly dances.
The room is very large, the dance floor VERY large, in the
very nice Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach Hotel, with
validated parking.
The world famous faculty were there--
Pablo Veron and Noel Strazza,
Milena Plebs and Ezequiel Farfaro,
Julio Balmaceda and Corina De La Rosa,
Nestor and Patricia Ray and
Omar Vega and Valeria--
and it was so much fun to watch them dance informally
with each other and also with attendees.
It was great to see and dance with people I had
previously met in Portland, Denver, San Francisco,
Tucson and Santa Fe, but there were lots of others
I didn't know from Japan, Hawaii, and other places
on the map, who I'm looking forward to dancing with
later this week.
.
The nightly milongas continue tonight, Monday,
through Saturday, July 7, and I hope more dancers
in the Southern California area can attend as many
as possible. The Friday and Saturday milongas will
have live music by the incredible Color Tango Orchestra.
(By the way guys, there were lots more women last
night, so for sure you will have a good time dancing!)
I'm only sorry the Color Tango weekend concides with
Norah's Tango Weekend in San Francisco, so that I can't
attend both. It's a shame that the California tango
community has to divide itself between two such
outstanding events.
(No, I'm not affiliated with Tango Fireworks in any
way whatsoever, only a tango lover who wants to
expand her horizons.)
Hope to see you there!
Cherie
