It is in Club Leales y Pampeanos somewhere in Avellaneda on Sunday night.
Rick McGarrey mentions it several times in his fascinating Notes from
Undeground (from Buenos Aires actually) at
https://home.earthlink.net/~rmcgarreysprint014/ .

Cheers, Oleh K., who decided to skip Europe this year in favor of brief trip
to Buenos Aires

Oleh, thanks for the nice compliment about the stories. Barbara is asking
about Cacho's milonga, which is at the Club Leales y Pampeanos, Piaggio 163, in
Avellaneda. Saturday nights are crowded, Sundays a little quieter. Last time
we checked, admission was about 35 cents U.S.

Portenos familiar with Avellaneda sometimes say "Vamos a cruzar el charco" when
they go there. It means "We are going to cross the pond". If you take Puente
Purreydon [the Purreydon Bridge] to Avellaneda, you will see some history. The
small, polluted looking canal below is the famous (in tango, anyway) Riachuelo.
It's hard to believe that it would inspire so much tango, but apparently it
did. The Riachuelo separates Avellaneda from Boca and the rest of the city of
Buenos Aires. So you can listen to Fresedo play "Niebla del Riachuelo" (about
fog on the water) and D'Arienzo's "Amarras" (about a very sad Riachuelo
charcoal boatman) while you get down with the locals in Carlos Gardel's old
club.

Rick McGarrey has thanked me thus:

>Oleh, thanks for the nice compliment about the stories.

Actually I would like to thank you for writing the stories. Because of
personal accounts like this I feel I know what to expect when I go to Buenos
Aires next month. I wish more people posted their personal accounts on
dancing in different parts of the world.

I will be in Buenos Aires for one week only and and had figured out more or
less which milongas I should go to for each day of the week (thanks to Jenny
DeBouzek's informative guide at
https://www.tangodowntown.net/dancinginbsas.html, Alex Krebbs' travel
journals at
https://www.tangoberretin.com/alex/thoughts/journals/journal.html, your notes
and Pichi de Buenos Aires personal recommendations) except for Sunday
evening.

Now I know where I am going to be at night on Sunday, September 26.

Are you going to be in Denver? I am curious to see the way you dance.

Thanks, Oleh K.
