Subject: are they really master teachers?

I read all the postings to Tango-A regarding the workshops and festivals
with Argentines and others who are routinely billed as "international master
teacher" or "world-renown master." This title has been given to
practically everyone who travels to teach tango. In most cases, I don't
agree that it is appropriate.

What is a master? What is requisite for someone to earn the title of
master? What are the credentials of a master teacher?

Universities and cultural organizations present master classes by an artist
who has been recognized internationally after a long, successful career.
These master classes are open to those who are pursuing an artistic career.
It takes a lifetime to become a master of one's art.

Tango-A rules prohibit marketing hype. Let's just provide information on
events and let the participants decide for themselves. Calling everyone a
master isn't doing anyone (or tango) any good.
