Subject: Argentina Fundraiser Success - Portland, OR

We wish to say thanks and report on our Fundraiser Event of Aug. 18th.

Many of the members of this list have expressed interest in learning about
the outcome of the Fundraiser, Dance-A-Thon, the tango community of Portland
Oregon held on August 18th. The benefit's purpose was to help the children
and families of Argentina with the delivery of food in this very difficult
time of its economy. The evening included a dance marathon where a
tanguero/tanguera was to obtain sponsors to pledge an amount per dance and
of course, the object being to dance as many dances one could during the
evening. We also held a silent auction, poster and T-shirt sales. Florencia
Taccetti from Buenos Aires performed with our Alex Krebs. They were
magnificent and it was evident that she put in that extra effort for this
benefit.

We are pleased to report that we received pledges aggregating to more than
$10,000 and have collected thus far $8,000. The generosity of our Portland
community and those that participated and contributed from other cities has
surpassed our wildest expectations. We want to express our grateful thanks
to all for their most generous and enthusiastic support in this endeavor.
