Subject: Captain Corelli's Mandolin

I recently saw parts of a highly boring movie: "Captain Corelli's
Mandolin." Except for an interesting section in the middle where
Penelope Cruz dances the tango with an anonymous partner,
apparently to excite Nicholas Cage's attention.

She wasn't great, but she was effective, I thought. The dance
was likely choreographed, but she gave the impression of a
talented intermediate dancer having a good time, despite mistakes
and questionable technique. And the music and dancing seemed to
be what would have actually been played/danced at that time, as
opposed to what you would see in one of today's tango shows.

PS. I also rented the DVD of "Moulin Rouge," which has extended
regular speed versions of all the dance scenes. The tango dance
was just as disappointing to me as the faster, MTV-chopped style
of the movie itself.
