Subject: computers & cellulars in BA

1. If you need your computer only for email, the advice given already is
absolutely correct: use the locatorios. In some of them, you can even get a
nice little coffee and a media luna.

2. Whatever you do, DON'T rent any cell phone from the companies at the
airport. I rented like this a couple of times, and it was usually about a
hundred dollars for two or three weeks, which was steep, but I needed the
phone for the agenda I was persuing in BA. Then, on the last trip, a month
after returning home, a bill came for $900. After much dispute via the credit
card company, there is still no resolution of this. Best advice: same as #1
above: use the locatorios, or prepaid phone cards.

3. I've looked into the possibility of taking an "unlocked" GSM quadband
cellphone to Argentina, and buying a pre-paid SIM there. I'm still not sure
of the feasibility of this, or all the technical details. However, in looking
at various websites that sell pre-paid international SIMs, when you look at
their tables of rates for various countries, calls to/from and within
Argentina are always in the categories of the most expensive countries. =

4. Final thought: Food and milongas are a bargin in BA; concentrate on those,
and have a great trip.
