Subject: Foot exercises
Greetings,
I am out of the hospital, in rehabilitation, and finally walking freely after
my heels-shattering fall last March. Most of the rehab I am doing on my own
at home but unfortunately no dancing yet. I have a number of exercises for my
feet and ankles but I am trying to find some more specific ones relating to
supination and pronation. This is simply the ability of the foot to swing to
the left and right. This is how we can land on the outside or inside edges of
our feet when walking, for example, and we even do it on a angle when we walk
so it is a very complex movement for the foot.
Because of my injuries my right foot was set at 90* and to the front so I now
have to reintroduce most of the range of motion to it, front and back and
left and right. I am looking for exercises that would help this. My left foot
(simple fracture) was less severly injured so I didn't lose as much there but
this movement is so essential to walking that without it my leg is
overstressed in other movements in order to compensate.
I have checked out a few sites that had orthopedic-related information but
not much on actual exercises. Does anyone out there have any expertise or
know where I could look for more info?
much appreciated,
Charles Roques
