Subject: hyeah, slow down!!
My uncle taught me the "hyeah" many years ago when I worked on his dairy
farm.
"Herve Michel"; a good friend suggested that this personage exists only
as a program offered by some weird psychotherapist to study the
reactions of us "sane" people. The idea has some merit, but
unfortunately I disagree. There really is a shithead out there calling
himself Herve Michel, who thinks himself a master of tango. One of these
days he actually may develop some intelligence!
Lots of stuff from my friend Derik lately. And he tries to come across
as such an authority on Argentine Tango. Derik, you don't know anything
about it; best to stay in your own "Derik Tango" world. Believe me, I'll
let the list know when you start learning Argentine Tango.
Hyeah, slow down! Listen to those who've been there, and been
successful. Tom, Clay, Karen, Brian, Deb, Robin, Jen, etc.
Derik, if you keep posting to this list, you'll get shot down every
time. These are people who know what Argentine Tango really is. Which is
something you'll never know. But go ahead and keep up with your idiot
ideas......they are as amusing as Michel's postings........
Igor; I agree with you immensely. I really get tired of all these
teachers saying that each must maintain their own center. And then they
try to make it visual by backing off from their partner and showing that
they can stand on their own.
BULLSHIT; Yes there are times when my follower should be able to stand
on her own, but only when my body says its ok, and usually for about 1/5
of a second. All the rest of the time, I want her to rely on me for
everything; balance, coordination, syncopation, and 98% of the time, my
follower better be relying on me for her balance, or she'll kill herself
trying to fight it. Maintaining an axis is much different than
maintaining a center. See me for details!
Regards,
Michael

If any of my friends ever talked down to me like that.. they would not be my
friend for very long. Friends don't insult one another in public forums.

I don't comment much on this list.. but this was just so 100% incorrect.
Please people.. if you ever take a class with a teacher that tells you that
the follow should not maintain her own weight (balance), except for off-axis
moves.. then find another teacher.
I dance mostly on-the-body and most of the on-the-body follows put way too
much weight on the leaders. Most of the best on-the-body follows actually
started as off-the-body (open embrass) dancers, because they learned up
front to maintain their own balance.

Hi Clint and welcome to the new world of tango ,were
many super teachers shall tell you what is right or
what is wrong!. One in particular is the most
qualified for insulting any other way to dance rather
that the one (he thinks)he is doing well.
Tango is a felling that you share with somebody and
become a new animal with four legs moving together. You
shall do it in the way that you feel more confortable
without any tango-bible,wich will condem you.
You should see how they dance....the ones that
proclame they know the most.
Best tangos in any way you feel that you enjoy it.
Regards.
