 Subject: Incredible Di Sarli album

The tango got me again.....this time it was the RCA Victor 100 Anos disc
featuring Di Sarli's work, which someone on this list recommended awhile
 back........

Today the short lunch I had planned was extended by over an hour as I was
astonished by track after track of some of the best Di Sarli recordings ever
made, with stunningly clean, crisp recording quality, every one of them a
masterpiece. The first selection is the familiar Bahia Blanca, which served
to launch me into a walking trance about my living room - the quality and
clarity of the recording was shocking, every bit as good, if not better,
than the FM Tango recording. Three songs later, now in a deep pulsing
trance, walking about the room, track 4 surprised me with an incredibly rich
vocal which eventually floored me - I could not move, I had to just sit and
listen to it, as the incredible arrangement and orchestration of the
instruments rose into a feverish pitch and the vocalist matched this
intensity with superbly tasteful precision and diction. I was really
shocked by this song. It captured my full and complete attention. When the
song ended I rushed to the CD player and stopped the playback - I did not
want to hear another sound. After a minute or so of silence, as I surfaced
out of my astonishment, I reached for the album to see what had just struck
me. The name of the song is "Buenos Aires", with vocals by Roberto Florio.
I listened to that song several more times and all I could do is shake my
head in amazement - this is as good as tango music gets. The clarity of the
recording is crystal clear - I could hear individual violins and every note
of every instrument..... every time El Senor touched the keys I could hear
it. RCA Victor really outdid themselves with this disc.

Skipping past several songs that are on the FM Tango disc, I found 3 more
vocal selections (for a total of 4 out of 22), each very, very tasteful, and
several releases of familiar instrumental songs that have breathtaking sound
quality. I hope to give them justice in the near future but this time
around I could not get "Buenos Aires" out of my mind. All the tracks are Di
Sarli at the fullest development of his sound from the 50's.

Many of the songs would be excellent for dancing when the mood calls for
that thick, rich Di Sarli feel. We're talking deep, luscious,
triple-chocolate tango-trance material here. However, a few of the songs
really beg you to sit down and listen intently to them, because there's a
lot of music in there for those who REALLY listen. The cost of the album is
worth it for track #4 alone. I hope to hear more of Florio's voice with Di
 Sarli's orchestra in future releases.

Continuing to be inspired and moved by the music -

I've been requested to better identify this album -

The album is produced by BMG - RCA, catalog number 74321-87490-2. The title
of the disc is "RCA Victor 100 Anos" This is a relatively new series of
releases, all titled "RCA Victor 100 Anos" in celebration of the 100th
anniversary of RCA Victor. I also have the Gardel release which is of high
 quality as well.
