Subject: NA-E: NYC: not very tango-related
To Tango Friends All Over the World,
From Reba's Dance Connection and the Spice Summer Festival: Salsa + Tango Party on Pier 63: thanks for so many messages of support, sympathy =
and inspiration. Truly, as Larry Carroll has written, we must keep dancing and rekindle joy as the surest way to defeat sadness and grief.
Our beloved Pier 63, where we tango-ed through the night, is right next door to the resource area where all rescue personnel come to rest and =
recover before going back in to do their heroic work. You can go on foot to deliver donations of clothing, water, Gatorade and other supplies, =
but it is not the time or the place to be dancing.
Hopefully next week we will resume our Wednesday dance, a portion of the proceeds will be devoted for a long time to come to the Red Cross, the =
NY Fire Department, the NY Police Department and others who have made unbelieveable sacrifices to help those in need. Hundreds of these great =
human beings have been lost while trying to help those thousands trapped in the World Trade Center. They have my undying admiration and =
gratitude.
I am sorry this is not about tango. It is my first time writing to the list. I regularly listen in with interest. Even though I never spoke up =
before, you are part of my community.
I send you thanks and wish you all PEACE, Reba Perez, with SPICE Festival partners Ricardo Diez and Trey Parker
