Dear friends from Tango list

An interview is made at local newspaper Clarin to Andres Linetzky, the pianist of the group Vale Tango. This group made an interestanting record, used for a stage show on the Buenos Aires Tango Festival 2004. The show was called "Danza maligna" and was about a four milongueros dancing with four dancers .There were Puppy Castello, Daniel"el flaco "Garcia and Vanina Bilous among other people. Later this show was part of a Tango Show at Theatre Challiot in Paris , as part as an event called "Buenos Aires Tango Via 2 "

I will translate a part of the comments of Andres Linetzky, because is interesting to know how young local musicians and singers like El Arranque, Lidia Borda, Seccion Vermz , Erica Di Salvo, Sonia Possetti, Damian Bolotin, etc..etc.. are making a research on old tango scripts to produce new recordings with the old "style" .

Bardi, the new CD that Linetzky4s orchestra will present this coming thursday 19 at rooms AB of Teatro San Martmn : is the first record on history entirely focused on Agustmn Bardi. "I always was fascinated by Bardi. When I begun to play tango music, the things that mostly caught my attention were from Bardi . I have later a relationship with Bardi family and his grandoson, when seeing that are intentios were realy serious, gave us 150 original scripts that belong to Bardi. I started the selection , but I could not discard any of them. All 150 were unique. In my humble opinion, we are taking of a genious of the music".


- ?What is the main aspect that distinguishes Bardi?

- Is like Mozart. If you take out a note from Mozart, all gets out of balance. And with Bardi is the same : the composition is ready, you only have to play it. It is not casual that Pugliese wrote Adiss Bardi and Salgan A Don Agustmn Bardi. And Troilo wanted to make a recording dedicated to Bardi, but died before completion.



- ?How the selection was finally made ?

- There are three tracks not played never before: Un baile en la embajada, Siempre los dos and Cachada, that once was recorded but no profesionally. There are other tracks more known , there are other more danceable.
We look for an equilibrium.



- In the CD there are references to other recordings taken as reference, and it is listened in that way. In "Lorenzo", for instance , there is a sound very alike to Pugliese...

- This is my belief also . It is like the painters when they have to paint a wall, They take a bucket of white paint and add colour once and again until they have the shade they want.
What we made at Vale Tango is a bit like that. We keep listening many orchestras and many styles. We mix them all until we reach our own style.



- The young tango musicians actually have a charactistic of a certain conservacionism. They look as interpeter-historian

- It is this way. Charlie Parker used to say that for you to be out you have to be in first. In my personal case, I must say that I receive a strong influence from my teachers . And for my teacher Salgan , what is not marked in " four " is not tango.


- ?Has the piazzolean commendment disappeared from the permanent revolution?

- Tango is a tree trunk , from which Piazzolla was a very important branch. But from a branch you could not make another tree. I entered into tango listening Piazzolla, but I do not stay there. I swent backards and onwards and find things as equal or bigger than Piazzolla. Bardi, for instance.
