Tom kindly shared information that he received that a portion of the pink
panther song, "Pantera Tanguera" can found through the Cuarteto Almagro
website:
At Club de Tango <https://www.clubdetango.com.ar/>, I found a listing for a
CD containing Pantera Tanguera:
CD Title: LA JOVEN GUARDIA DEL TANGO
Artist: VARIOS
Label: MELOPEA 1139
The listing did not tell the orchestra for each track. Can anyone tell me
whether this CD contains the version recorded by Cuarteto Almagro? Is the
CD still available? Are there any other sources of a complete rendition of
Pantera Tanguera?
With best regards,
Steve

For those still looking for Cuarteto Almagro s Pantera Tanguera
(and to give another example of how cheap things are in B.A.), I
ordered a CD last week from www.tangostore.com with express shipping
for only $19 US ($66 Argentine), which was even cheaper than the
$24-$27 conversion they had estimated on their website. Got the CD
only 2 days after they shipped it.
The CD, Hemisferios, had Pantera Tanguera , as well as, a tango that
sounded like the theme from that 2010 space movie. As a whole, I
found the CD to be more for listening than for dancing, though they
did have a three original waltzes and 1 original milonga that were
all pretty good. I think it was released in November 2001.
One sees how much work and how much of their heart these musicians
(the small recording studio, and others) put into these original CD s
and one hopes that they get compensated for their work (and not
bootlegged, though I must admit that I was looking for a copy when I
thought it wasn't available commercially).
