Subject: reopening of Milongas Buenos Aires

Dear friends from tango list

Yesterday night a special decree from the town hall of buenos aires, was approved , and will be issued today, to except the milongas from the regulations for dancing places.

The decree of exception for milongas, is based on a Law from 1998, number 130, that establish Tango as cultural patrimony of the city of Buenos Aires.

A registration will be required , of the milongas into a list of entities, to prevent attempts to disguise a dancing place as a milonga, to benefit from this exception.

A new Association , AOM ( Asociacion Organizadores Milongas) has been involved with this negotiations with local government. The president and secretary of this association are Omar Viola( Parakultural ) and Marcelo Salas ( La Glorieta at Barrancas de Belgrano ) . Also organizers from the known milongas of Buenos Aires such as la Viruta, Gricel , El beso are into this association.
