Subject: The Tango House Xmas Day Benefit, the results
Greetings from The Tango House,
I have received some inquiries, so for those interested, the benefit
milonga for The Brandon Center (run by Volunteers of America) on
Christmas Day here at The Tango House was a great success. Chicago was
represented that night as well as New York, Saint Louis and Buenos
Aires. These individuals and members of the Denver and surrounding area
tango community, and members of Casa Argentina de Colorado, came forward
with goods too numerous to list but include a collapsible crib, a VCR, 2
backpacks, pounds and pounds of women's, children's and baby clothing,
scores of bars of soap and bottles of shampoo & conditioner, tooth paste
and brushes, OTC medications, games, $435 (including a $100 donation
from 1 individual) cash money (my personal favorite) and a partridge in
a pear tree which promptly made a booboo on a house speaker so I
barbecued the foul creature and made a delicate dollop of pate from his
tiny liver which I ate on a small cracker with a nice ChiAnti. (this is
Chas's idea of humor: No animals were harmed in the making of this
benefit.)
Not bad for a last minute effort. This was a lot of fun. Please keep a
look out for future benefits at The Tango House.
I want to extend my sincerest appreciation and gratitude to everyone who
helped make this a successful benefit for a worthy cause, and a great
milonga as well!
