Subject: Tango & subway H
Following my comments on new subway station at D line (Los Incas) to be opened on next august 11th .
A new line of subway is being built with funding from the city of Buenos Aires, to connect the north part of the city with the south part (Retiro - Nueva Pompeya).
The Tango connection is that the stations of H line will cover nearby milongas , that are actually a bit far from subway stations. Due to the increasingly difficulty of traffic in Buenos Aires , and also for safety reasons, subway is going to be a common way of travel in the nearby future.
H line will be finished by year 2005, but a first stage of stations will be opened soon , between Plaza Once and Hospitales new station.
The plan of the city government is to build aditional lines North - South ( I & J lines) and to extend the actual lines A-B-D up to Avenue General Paz , to avoid traffic entering from the province. This will be finished by year 2011 , and to that time , wherever you be inside Buenos Aires , you would have a subway station not far than 5 blocks from your location. And maybe from a new milonga :)
Warm regards

p.s. my previous posting about glyptodons found underground, was not a joke . They are currently in exhibit at Tronador station of D line , for those of you interested in this subject (unfortunately not english text, only spanish) , there are some information at

problem with the "Subte" (subway of Bs.As.) is that currently it is
not running late enough in the evening/night to go out to a milonga!
usualy at 10 pm no subte runs any more ... but no milonga really
starts before midnight! :-)
also for the nightly change of milonga ("milonga hopping") subte does
not help - either walk (like in between 'Canning' and
'Estrella/Viruta" - for the medialunas (!) or take the taxi. :-)
to go home, in the - later morning - subte could help again ... but
many tangueras y tangueros share a cab.
