Dear Darren and list,
Perhaps the "crowded floor transcendent tango" is like the "dormila" that Astrid has previously mentioned in her postings, while the "open space transcendent tango" is more like the creative flow experience?
I believe both types of transcendence can be experienced individually apart from the partner's experience. Of course, the partner may reply when queried that is was "special for them, too". But does "special" necessarily mean "transcendent" or the way we are talking about transcendence here?

There
seems to me here an implication that intuitive and transcendent dancing
is
dependent on limited space and close quarters. Personally, I enjoy
more
space while dancing. Freedom of movement actually helps to drive and
inspire my intuition. When I am matched and met by a follower who is
also
contributing to the dance in her own way I find myself experiencing an
intimacy that by far exceeds the container of the ordinary dance not
matter
how many others are dancing. In fact, in my experience, a too crowded
floor can actually, but not always, hinder the transcendence."

For a "dormirla experience" the right man is necessary, a degree of
crowdedness or emptyness on the floor is not. At least not for the woman.
The woman is, as the word says, in sort of a somnambulistic state, unaware
of everything around her, except for the man in her arms and the music. The
rest is a blur.
It has never ever occurred to me to ask my partner:"Was it good for you
too?" So I don't know exactly about that, but in my opinion, the man who did
not notice how good it is for the woman, would be a damn fool.
Dancing tango in that sate is not unlike making love. I heard that people
actually exist who will ask:"Was it..."

Here all the shortcomings of this list are exposed. Instead of enjoying the
fact that things like this are possible between people, a nitpicking about
words has started. I believe, with all respect, that further analysis of the
terminology of tango-transcendence will not bring the experience any closer.

As Achan Chaan said of Zen Buddhists who had ecstatic experiences during
meditation
" Just something else to let go of"
It is folly to chase the experience.
"If it happens then it happens if it don't it don't."

Atta girl, Astrid! I second it!! And, of course, we
have the support of the majority on the List, silent
or otherwise, so it's carried. Done. ("Democracy"
what?!!!) No more "nitpicking" henceforth! Or forever
more. Whichever comes first. Especially about the
important stuff. You can analyze a perfectly beautiful
thing to death! Geez!!!
