Something I've never seen discussed on the L list and maybe it could make a
good discussion is

Foot stomping

I'm glad to say I don't see it done by the best of dancers. But usually stage
performers, and wanna be stage performers. The man starting a line of dance
by slamming his foot on the floor to get your attention.

How did this get started in tango?
What is it called?
and or is there any history of this foot stomping?

Being a social dancer, I myself don't, or even want to do this, but I have
seen it over emphasized (used throughout the whole dance) to where it is very
distracting to me as watch people dancing or I myself dance.
