To: tango-L list <TANGO-L@MIT.EDU>
Hi all,
Slightly off-topic, but...
Partly in response to Sebastian's question about
note names, and partly because I'm so easily
amused by random trivia, I thought I'd list the
names of each note in Spanish, American English
and British English. In an off-list post, I'd
said "quarter" when the recipient in question
might have preferred "crotchet," which doesn't
spring so easily to my mind. Plus, "redonda"
came up in a recent conversation I had, and I
said, "Oh, whole note."
Anyway, enjoy! -L
-------------------------
redonda = whole note = semibreve
blanca = half note = minim
negra = quarter note = crotchet
corchea = eighth note = quaver
semicorchea = 16th note = semiquaver
demisemicorchea = 32nd note = demisemiquaver
sostenido = sharp
bemol = flat
alteracio'n = accidental
etc.
