Subject: Grorias Portenas
I bought 25 CDs at Zivals. The usual suspects mostly, however one group
stands out in its delivery and was not mentioned on this list AFAIK.
About six months ago I have asked the list if anyone knows who performs
Milonga Sentimental, men and women duo, fresh voices, contemporary
arrangement. The good people at Zivals have listened to the milonga on my CD
player and decided that those were Glorias Portenas. Even though this
milonga is not on the two CDs they had in stock, and arrangements are a bit
different, the voices and the attitude sound the same, so I think they are
correct.
Next time you are in BsAs get their first CD. The label in the corner states
"Tangos y sonrias" and this is exactly what you will get. Their milongas are
outstanding. Second CD is not as good.
Also a stand out is "Tangos" by Hugo Diaz. None of the tracks is as great as
his Milonga Triste, still I like his harmonica arrangements.
Enjoy, Oleh K.
