Subject: have Diego and Carolina started spamming?
Today I received a mail which was thanking me for subscribing to the
"Broadway tango productions newsletter". "To unsubscribe, send your reply
to...", the usual address confirmation for spammers.
When I wanted to ban the address from my mail box,it came up as
diegoycarolinadifalco@yahoo.com
Thing is, I subscribed to no such thing, and if the address is genuine, it
gives me a very bad impression of Diego and Carolina. I wish people would
stop abusing the info they get from tango-l regarding people's email
addresses for sending spam. I do not even live in New York or anywhere near
it.
The same goes for the "tango partners in BsAs", who proudly announced a
while ago that over a thousand people subscribed to their newsletter within
two days,including me. (I didn't)

Neither do I. But when I was in Bs As, some local people asked for my email
address. 50% of them, as I suspect, have sold my email address. When I
asked the organizers of these publications, they could not recall the
occasion by which we became acquaintance.
The same applies to some of the promotional email I received from elsewhere
(USA, Europe etc.) as well. A few of them did not even say which city, just
the time and the street name/ studio name!
I agree with the comment from a previous member, if they wish to market
their events, just let us know their url to avoid lengthy email messages.
Abusing marketing will only lead to negative result, I have no clue why
these promoters elect to kill their own effort when we eventually boycott
their events...
